Glenny Glass Launches New Thermo Plastic Spacer (TPS) Commercial IG Line
Glenny Glass Upgrades Commercial IG Performance With New TPS Line
Beginning in February 2026, Glenny Glass will commission a new Thermo Plastic Spacer (TPS) commercial insulating glass line, delivering improved thermal performance, durability, and visual consistency at the same price customers pay today.
This investment reflects our ongoing commitment to higher-performing commercial IG units without added cost, complexity, or warranty changes.
What’s Changing
Starting in late February 2026, all commercial insulating glass units will transition from aluminum box spacers to Thermo Plastic Spacers (TPS) as the default option.
TPS is a modern, warm-edge spacer technology that improves energy performance, seal integrity, and production consistency across every unit.
What’s Staying the Same
- Pricing: TPS will be delivered at the same price as aluminum spacers
- Warranty: The same 10-year warranty applies to all TPS units
- Options: Aluminum spacers will remain available at $2.00 per square foot
Important Transition Details
- Commissioning Date: Late February 2026
- Quotes Prior to Feb 1, 2026: Aluminum spacer will be honored unless TPS is requested
- Quotes From Feb 1, 2026 Forward: TPS will be the default spacer for all commercial quotes
This approach ensures a smooth transition while giving customers flexibility and clarity.
Why Thermo Plastic Spacer Matters for Commercial IG
Improved Thermal Performance - Warm-edge design reduces heat transfer at the glass edge, supporting better overall energy efficiency.
Longer-Lasting Units - Flexible polymer construction accommodates building movement and temperature changes over time.
Stronger Seal Integrity - Continuous, robot-applied spacer eliminates weak points common in traditional spacer systems.
Modern Architectural Aesthetics - Uniform black spacer provides clean, consistent sightlines preferred in commercial applications.
Better Argon Retention - Enhanced gas retention helps insulating performance last longer.
Reduced Moisture Risk - Improved protection of desiccant extends seal life and unit reliability.
Consistent Quality - Automated application removes manual variability and improves repeatable performance.
A Smarter Standard for Commercial IG
By commissioning this new TPS line, Glenny Glass is raising the performance standard for commercial insulating glass while maintaining the pricing, reliability, and service our partners expect.
